Beyonce Is Reportedly ‘In Talks’ To Record The New ‘James Bond’ Theme Song
It hasn’t been too long since Daniel Craig confirmed that he would return as James Bond for the next film in the franchise, but the producers are allegedly still speculating over how they can incorporate something fresh into the mix.
Now, we’re not sure about you, but when we think of Beyoncé, the word ‘fresh’ doesn’t necessarily come to mind. Classic, flawless, iconic – yes, but fresh? Not really…
Nonetheless, it can’t be denied that Beyoncé commands attention. Her sweeping vocals can do no wrong, and the thought of her luxurious tone belting out a James Bond ballad has genuinely left us shooketh. We’re sure that the song would be a hit even if it was just her crooning out the letters of the alphabet over a flimsy backing track.
But how did this prospective collaboration – Bey and Bond – suddenly come about?
Well, according to the Daily Star, bosses believe that having Beyoncé sing the James Bond theme song could give the franchise a huge ‘global boost’.
It has also been rumoured that Beyoncé’s interest in the project was sparked mainly because of her growing friendship with former James Bond crooner, Adele, who won several prestigious awards for ‘Skyfall’.
Some workers in the music industry have alternatively predicted that Adele will be invited to sing another theme song for the upcoming James Bond film. Such a move would move her closer into the league of Dame Shirley Bassey, who was the first singer to ever record multiple title tracks for the Bond films.
Shirley Bassey recorded 1964’s Goldfinger, 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever and 1979’s Moonraker.
According to the Daily Star, a senior executive at Hollywood studio MGM, (the studio that distributes every 007 movie) said:
“Daniel Craig’s decision this month to return as Bond has thrown everything into overdrive. It’s very likely that shooting for Bond 25 will begin at the end of this year or early next year. To tie-up a deal with Beyoncé for a theme song for Daniel’s fifth appearance as 007 would really be the icing on the cake.”
The upcoming (and yet unnamed) film – which will be the 25th in the series – is set to be released in November of 2019.
