The 16 Marvel Films Ranked From Worst To Best By Rotten Tomatoes

We all love the MCU, even if it is quite hard to keep up with at some times. With Thor Ragnarok receiving rave reviews, it’s very exciting to see where they’re going, and given that Marvel have been knocking out of the park for so long, it’s sometimes hard to think back to their beginnings.

And I don’t mean their real beginnings, I mean their MCU beginnings.

It started in 2008 with Iron Man, and I don’t think anyone could have predicted what we have now, could they?

But which, of all the films, is the best one, and which is the worst one?

That’s obviously subjective, but here’s what Rotten Tomatoes thinks…

16. Thor: The Dark World (66% fresh)

Trying to find her way to Thor, Jane Foster accidentally comes into contact with an Infinity Stone. The Dark Elves want that infinity stone and aim to take it from her. With that, Thor rushes to her defence and rages war on the Dark Elves, with the help of Loki.

15. The Incredible Hulk (67% fresh)

Bruce Banner is hiding in Brazil to avoid the American government but is soon sniffed out by General Ross and his soldiers. What follows is a cat and mouse chase that ultimately ends in Harlem, against a terrifying foe.

14. Iron Man 2 (73% fresh)

Ummm. So there’s a guy who thinks Howard Stark stole the arc reactor blueprints from his dad, so he tries to get his revenge by killing Tony Stark. Meanwhile, there’s another weapons dealer who wants to create his own line of combat suits. I think..?

13. Avengers: Age of Ultron (75% fresh)

Tony Stark accidentally creates an AI using an Infinity Stone that decides that humanity has had its fun and can more or less piss-off. It’s up to the Avengers to stop Ultron from destroying the world.

12. Thor (77% fresh)

Thor has been banished to Earth for undermining his king and father, Odin. He’s not allowed to possess the power of Thor until he is worthy, meaning that his hammer is as good as useless to him (being that he can’t pick it up). He needs to get back to Asgard and luckily, Jane Foster is there to help.

11. Iron Man 3 (79% fresh)

After the events of The Avengers, Tony Stark is suffering from PTSD. Meanwhile, the Mandarin presents a new threat to America’s freedom, and he takes a particular disliking to Iron Man, who is more or less forced to go into exile, all the while uncovering the mystery of radicalised veterans.

10. Captain America: The First Avenger (80% fresh)

Steve Rogers wants to join the army to fight the Nazis during WWII but is far too feeble. With that, he’s put forward to be part of the new super-soldier program. Needless to say, it works, he becomes Captain America and help in the fight against mystical fascism.

9. Ant-Man (82% fresh)

Hank Pym enlists the help of cat-burglar Scott Lang to steal the plans for an minimising combat-suit from a man with untoward motives. Of course, Scott gets a suit of his own and becomes Ant-Man.

The Guardians are back, and this time they’re trying to uncover the mystery behind Peter’s parentage. But there’s a struggle for power amongst the Ravagers as well as Peter’s dad being a little bit… odd.

7. Doctor Strange (89% fresh)

An esteemed surgeon can no longer use his hands properly, so travel the world in search of a cure. What he finds, though, is far more than he bargained for, as he trains to become a sorcerer. Obviously it’s not all that straight-forward, and there’s some people out there who have other ideas.

6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (89% fresh)

S.H.I.E.L.D has been infiltrated by Hydra and Captain America has discovered that they plan to kill a whole lot of people. With the few good guys left, it’s him verses Hydra, with the addition of an old familiar face-come-foe.

5. Captain America: Civil War (90% fresh)

The Avengers are divided down the middle after a new UN initiative sees all of the vigilantes register as workers for the UN. Some agree whilst others don’t, meaning that an all-out war starts between them; Captain America leading one side and Iron Man leading the other.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy (91% fresh)

Space fun! Peter Quill and a group of unlikely misfits have the weight of the galaxy on their shoulders after an evil Kree radical, Ronan the Accuser, gets his hand on an Infinity Stone and only they can stop him.
